Sweet, sassy Jazmin. She was the first one to attach to me on a trip to the zoo. She insisted on being carried through the entire park (which, of course, I didn’t really mind!). When we were watching the giraffes together, I asked her in Spanish if she was tall like the giraffes (she is actually very petite). She gave me a disgusted look, crinkled her nose and said, “No! Pequeno (small)!” Jazmin was matched to a family for adoption but was trapped in the middle of the shutdown of international adoption in Guatemala 4 years ago. So, this sweet little Diva has instead been lovingly cared for at Dorie’s Promise, patiently waiting and hoping one day her family might finally be able to bring her home.

When I had to squeeze this sweetie good-bye, she looked at me very sadly and asked when I would return. I imagine for her it is difficult to understand why the people in her life who love her must keep leaving her. I am so thankful, though, that the wonderful Special Mothers at Dorie’s Promise are there to give her consistent care. Please help them to be able to continue to do so by sponsoring young Jazmin.
